DESIGN AGLOW FOR FINAO:
PROOF AND PORTFOLIO BOXES

HOW PAGE

Want to know how to further customize those spiffy Finao proof and portfolio box templates? Well, you have come to the right place. Here, we'll go over how to change the colors of your graphics and backgrounds.

CHANGING THOSE COLORS

You may have noticed that the patterns that come with the first series of Finao boxes are a little on the busy side. In order to keep the file sizes to a minimum, and the template operating at a good speed within Photoshop, we decided to leave out the individual pattern layers from the final template. As you know, the more layers, the more complex and potentially slowly the templates can operate. But, you may have a great design idea that involves changing out the colors to match your client's taste. Right now, this would be pretty time-consuming as you would have to separate out each of the little colors from the template and individually change them. Did you think we would ever leave you hangin'? We are all about speed and convenience here, so we've done all this work for you. All you will have to do to get the layered pattern files is to download them here:

LAYERED FINAO PATTERN FILES: SERIES 1

Once you have these pattern files downloaded you may open them into Photoshop and customize the colors to your heart's content. Here's how to do that:

1. Open the pattern file (PSD) into Photoshop and have a look at your LAYERS palette.

2. You will notice that each color is separated into a "Group" and each layer in that group has a solid color fill directly above it. To change the color of the layer, double click on the small square of color directly above the layer and choose the new color when the dialog box appears.

3. When the pattern has the colors you want, you can flatten the file and drag the new background onto your Finao box templates. You may also want to drag the entire group over unflattened, which will preserve editing capabilities in the future (recommended, however will add quite a bit to the file size).

CHANGING THE COLORS OF INDIVIDUAL DESIGN ELEMENTS

If you would like to change the colors of design elements, such as the color of the spine of the box, or the borders, etc., it's pretty much the same idea as above.

1. Locate the layer of the element you would like to change.

2. Double click the little colored box just above the layer and choose a new color from the dialog.

3. Click "OK" to apply the new color.
