So, what is this anyway? You call it a magazine? Is it really?
Well, yes and no. We call it a "web magazine" because it follows the format of traditional print magazines, with pages that you can flip and content based on the articles of traditional print magazines.
It is different in that it has absolutely no advertisements, no paid-endorsements, and no "fluff" to bulk it up. Each article is conceived and written to be quality content, distilled down into the most important parts so that busy professionals can read it quickly and utilize the main points intstantly.
It is also different because it comes with much more than just articles. We include, in each issue, template downloads, complete action sets, in-depth seminars and classes, marketing ideas and templates, and ideas for "designing" your business.
Think of each issue as a "mini-book" encompassing a variety of facets of the professional wedding and portraiture business.
I looked at the price of a subscription. Is this for one issue or for a long-term series of issues?
We do not bill recurring...that is, you only pay for what you want, nothing more. Each issue is released independently of the others and you are given the choice when the next issue comes out if you would like to buy it or not.
Think of it as a virtual bookstore. Only this is no bookstore magazine!
Why is your magazine priced higher than, say, Rangefinder or Professional Photographer?
Well, the most important reason is that we do not sell ads or accept sponsorships, plugs, or advertisements. This is how most magazines and website make the bulk of their money. Any products recommended in our magazine are mentioned because we honestly believe they deserve praise. On the other side of the coin, if we feel that the product is less-than-desirable, we will be honest about that as well.
Our loyalty is toward our readers and based on our own integrity, not to advertisers. We hope to build a reputation in our industry of honest reporting and non-biased content.
Another reason is that we offer much more than a traditional paper "magazine". Issues are not produced to simply fill with content. They are produced with high-quality, valuable, and helpful information with busy professional photographers in mind.
Design Aglow features seminars in each issue that are meant to be just as informative as super-expensive weekend seminars - without all the traveling, the hundreds of dollars spent and the crowds!
We are more than just something to read...we strive to be an invaluable learning source and inspire photographers to push the boundaries in their work. We realize that this magazine is not something for the photo masses and have priced it accordingly....just like many other invaluable resources, it is an exclusive product. For those purely interested in templates, actions, and the like, we plan to have the store open to non-subscribers very soon.
I love reading the issues online, but do you have a downloadable version?
Issue No. 1 is only available online, for now. All subsequent issues will be downloadable to your hard drive for easy access.
How long may I view the issues after I purchase them?
The issues do not expire. Once you have subscribed, you may log on at any time and view them. We hope to have a downloadable version in the upcoming issues, as well.
I would love to contribute an article or images to your magazine. Is this something you are interested in?
Absolutely! We love fresh, unique, and inspirational ideas that are not seen in any other trade publication. If you have an idea for an article, feature, action series, template set, or a marketing or business promotion idea, we would love to hear from you!
Your idea must follow our format, which is only design, photography, or anything else art or inspiration related. The more non-traditional, innovative, and exciting the idea, the better! :)
